Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
Max Roach +4 - a 1960 UK 1st press mono release on the blue Mercury label, Emarcy Jazz Series, MMB 12009. Side 2 bears a sticker on the label "FACTORY SAMPLE - NOT FOR SALE" - see photos.
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl has come up spotlessly clean with a few fine hairlines & scuffs visible. Clean labels with a few silvery spindle trails - Graded VG+
Playback reveals a fresh & crisp mono sound, lively & detailed - a really engaging listening experience. A quiet pressing for the age, the vinyl plays through beautifully with no jumping or sticking.
The flipback laminate outer sleeve is in lovely condition for the age, smooth &vibrant, with tiny areas of laminate peel just beginning at the edges & spine. Mild discolouration, most apparent to the rear. No splits, writing, stains, tape or tears.
The original Emitex type heavyweight inner sleeve is present, somewhat discoloured, but still doing a great job.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
