PAUL McCARTNEY ''FLAMING PIE'' 1ST UK PRESSING CAT NO. PCD 171 THE RAREST TO EVER FIND ON VINYL!! (ViRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!!) ONLY EVER PLAYED A HANDFUL OF TIMES BY ME, FROM NEW! THE ORIGINALGATEFOLD COVER IS NEAR PRISTINE!!!! TRY TO FIND ANOTHER UK PRESSING ON VINYL LIKE THIS!!!! Another from my personal collection of beatles and beatles related records accumilated over a period of over 35 years!!! This very (very) rare and sought after album realeased in 1997 was pre ordered by me prior to the release date! I ordered many copies knowing that only a limited amount would be pressed on vinyl!!!! This was primarily released for compact disc which is why these uk pressings are nearly impossible to find anywhere!!!!! Please note! The important thing is, that this is the original UK pressing!!!!
Flaming Pie is an album by Paul McCartney, first released in 1997 (1997 in music). His first studio album in over four years, it was mostly recorded following McCartney's involvement in the highly successful The Beatles Anthology project. Quoted in Flaming Pie's liner notes as saying, "(Anthology) reminded me of The Beatles' standards and the standards that we reached with the songs. So in a way it was a refresher course that set the framework for this album."!!!!
Beginning in February 1995, McCartney teamed up with Jeff Lynne, Electric Light Orchestra lead singer and guitarist and a massive Beatles fan who had previously worked with George Harrison on his 1987 album Cloud Nine, while both were members of The Traveling Wilburys, and who had also co-produced "Free As A Bird" and "Real Love" for the Anthology project. With a keen sense to produce something pure and easy — and without indulging in elaborate productions — McCartney sporadically recorded the entire album in a space of two years, working not only with Lynne, but with Steve Miller, George Martin, Ringo Starr and his own son, James McCartney, who plays lead guitar on "Heaven on a Sunday". "Calico Skies" and "Great Day" both hailed from a 1992 session, recorded even before Off the Ground had come out.!!!!!
The title Flaming Pie (also given to one of the album's songs) is a reference to a humourous story John Lennon told journalists in 1961 on the origin of The Beatles' name when they became newly famous: "I had a vision that a man came unto us on a flaming pie, and he said, 'You are Beatles with an A.' And so we were." The album itself has a definitively Beatles flare to it; "The Song We Were Singing" was written about the Lennon/McCartney writing team.!!!!!
Upon its May 1997 release, the critical reaction to Flaming Pie was very strong, with McCartney achieving his best reviews since 1982's Tug of War. The commercial reaction was everything McCartney could have hoped for. With fresh credibility even with young fans who had been introduced to him through the Anthology project, and anticipation raised with the excellent reviews, Flaming Pie debuted at #2 in the UK and US, giving McCartney his first US Top 10 album since Tug of War. In both countries, the album was the biggest entry in its initial week, knocked off the top spot by Spice Girls's Spice album. Not surprisingly, Flaming Pie went gold quickly. Singles "Young Boy", "The World Tonight" and "Beautiful Night" all became UK hits, all making the top 40 in the sales charts. The biggest single in the US from the album was "World Tonight", a top 30 entry on the billboard mainstream rock listing.!!!!!!!
Flaming Pie is considered one of Paul McCartney's finest albums — a point supported by its nomination for the "Album of the Year" Grammy in 1998.!!!!!!!

The Vinyl
This vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable! On initial inspection this vinyl looks as new! still retaining its original sheen from new! Points to note! This is the heavy thick and chunky vinyl only found on UK press! This has only ever been played by me from new and only a handful of times Unbeleivable 10 years old!! Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light only would be very light whysy sleeve removal only! (non audio sounding)!! Most of its storage life has been kept stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the original sleeve and put in a poly lined sleeve for protection (this is how I have always stored my vinyls)!!!!!
I have played this vinyl through track for track as usual prior to listing on a top system at very high volume! The audio is cristal clear and vibrant all the way through!!! Points to note! It is often too easy to compare these 90s pressings with cd quality and an allowance for static crackle must be allowed for these vinyl pressings. Any static crackle that is only heard during quiet parts are normally contributed to dust and dirt collected in the grooves especially the fact that these vinyls have been stored laying dormant for years! I have found that Constant cleaning before each play would benefit this and consiquently static is minimised!!! I must emphisise that the audio is awesome cristal clear and vibrant with (no) signs of grooveware or that this has been overplayed at all!!! Infact I have only ever played this vinyl a handful of times ever!!! I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listings of records that I have listed and sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!!!!!
The labels
These are as new! (no) visable spider marks or any signs that this has been played at all!! (no) ware at all around the spindle hole!! ''Made in the UK'' is featured (UK PRESSING)
The record sleeve
This is the original lyric record sleeve printed on both sides as new condition! The vinyl is stored seperate from the sleeve!!!!
The Cover
This is the original 1st UK press gatefold (non laminated ) cover THIS IS VERY NEAR PRISTINE! (please note! apart from a split that I have noticed on the rear top edge begining to form) which I hadn't ever noticed before as the vinyl has been stored seperatly for years!!! This is hardly noticable unless you look for it !!! There are (no) creases at all (no) other scuffs or marks and (no) signs of any ring ware at all!!!!! A TOP COPY!!!!
