McGough & McGear - McGough & McGear
Cat No. PMC7047 Matrix. Side 1 - XEX679-1 Side 2 - XEX680-1 This is a great copy of a really rare album. Even rarer in that this is a Yellow and Black Parlophone Mono copy with phasing on the opening track “So Much” which is not on the stereo version. There are so many great and uncredited artists on the LP including Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Graham Nash, Spencer Davis and Dave Mason to name a few. You can really hear Hendrix smashing out a sitar solo on side two. It’s a great listen.
Vinyl grading - VG+ There are plenty of hairlines and a few scuffs and there are plenty of quiet parts all through which are highlighted by a bit of crackle and pop. It does not distract from what is a great listen though. There are no skips, jumps or sticks. It’s a great punchy Mono recording.
Cover grading - VG There is a small 5cm tear on the front cover. With a bit of strategically placed tape of the inside it could be repaired quite nicely. There is also a BBC Library stamp on the rear cover no a very faint matching stamp on the label. It’s a great listen not lessened by a little crackle here and there and it’s definitely hard to come by. A great little bit of psych history.
