For auction is a very good listeners copy of Meet The Beatles! Released on January 20, 1964, it was the “Fab Fours” second studio album released in the United States after, Introducing…The Beatles, which came out 10 days earlier on January 10. Meet The Beatles! was their debut with Capitol Records while the latter was released by Vee-Jay Records. Capitol released most of the bands subsequent albums in the US. Featured on Meet The Beatles!, are the classics, “I Want To Hold Your Hand”, “I Saw Her Standing There” and “All My Loving”. The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at #92 but within two weeks it hit #1 were it would stay for eleven consecutive weeks. Coincidentally, the top spot was eventually taken over by the bands second Capitol record, The Beatles’ Second Album. Meet The Beatles! is considered one of the best and most important records ever released and is included on many best of lists. In 2020, Rolling Stone ranked it #157 on their list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The album has gone 5x platinum in the US selling 5 million copies. This copy is a 1964 1st mono Scranton Press with no production credit given to George Martin on back cover.
Vinyl is play graded VG. Many visible surface marks and hairlines but nothing deep that can be felt. Plays with mild background noise at times that is never overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Please see pics.
Cover is in VG- condition. Minor shelf wear on corners. Bottom seam has an inch split from open edge. Only split. Title is fully legible although there is a piece of tape on bottom of edge to stop peeling. Light ring wear and stains on both sides. Original Capitol Records inner sleeve is included but a generic white die-cut one is used to protect vinyl. Please see pics.
