Title: Meet The Beatles
Artist: The Beatles
Year and Chart Position: 1964 #1
A rare opportunity to acquire a STEREO vinyl recording of this superb American album. This version is on the American Capitol Purple Label, and the words "Mastered by Capitol" visible on the run out area on both sides of the disc. According to the Capitol6000.com website, these Capitol purple label discs were in production between 1977 and 1980. This could possibly be a first generation copy from 1977 as it has the "Capitol" logo also on the edge of the label, whereas later pressings don't have that. The only problem is, the "All rights Reserved" message around the edge is different from the examples given, so could be a 1980 pressing.
The matrix numbers on each run out groove are as follows....
Side 1 - ST-1-2047 H18-1 Side 2 - ST-2-2047 F22
There are no other mothers or stampers visible.
Vinyl Condition: Visually, it is in very good+ condition. There are one or two faint stylus marks, but nothing at all serious and the odd very light scuff.
Audibly, it is in very good+ to excellent condition. It does have what I would class as a low amount of pops and clicks and the silence between tracks is very good.
There is a moderate amount of spindle use
Sleeve: Generally very good. As you can see by the photographs, it is completely intact. The top and bottom edges are in very good condition in regards to scuffing, but there is a slight 2cm tear / slit from the bottom of the sleeve entrance. The spine has sadly suffered from vinyl slitting, 4.5cm either way from the center. A real shame as the rest of the spine is intact and the writing along it is still visible. Just a little mild scuffing on the front and nothing at all on the back. Looks great. The whole sleeve is still very strong and able to do its job properly.
Inner Sleeve: Fair to Good. The paper inner sleeve has split down one side.
