Description
"Meet the Supremes" is the debut album released by the Supremes in late 1962 on Motown Records. This LP includes the group's earliest singles.
The earliest recordings on this album done between fall of '60 and fall of '61, feature the Supremes as a quartet comprised of teenagers
Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, Florence Ballard, and Barbara Martin.
Martin left the group in late 1961 to start a family, and the other girls continued as a trio.

This album and its cover are both in near mint condition. It is as if the cover were unwrapped, the album only looked at - and then put away in a box in a closet - where it stayed for the next 44 years in my Grandma's house. I doubt that the record was ever played, but I say "near mint" because it is no longer sealed. In Goldmine's Pricing Guide, this particular album has a conservative value of $900.00. My Auntie, Alta Hayes, was a record promoter for many years, and this was probably one of the 1000s of albums/records that she gave to Grandma over the years....
The album label is blue with the top 1/3 being a map. There is a red star over Detroit on the upper right side of the map. The word "MOTOWN" is done in red and white gradiated block letters. There is no yellow lettering in the label - anywhere. Printed in tiny letters on the label: Side 1 of the label says: "H 1205-A, Jobete - BMI, XCTV 87515". On side 2 it says: "H 1206-B-2, Jobete-BMI, XCTV 87516". This is a first issue album. Extremely rare, highly collectible.
The back of the cover is stark white with black print. Written in blue ink on the upper left corner are the words "Demo - Al Klein" (of MOTOWN). The word "MOTOWN" down in the center bottom of the cover looks like a little car. Both the upper RH and LH corner have "Motown 606" printed on them. My best guess is that Al probably gave this particular album to my Auntie since they were in the same field.

Please, be certain that you really want this item before bidding and winning it. I am selling it for my Grandma's estate and emotionally, this is very difficult for me.

Please note that now on the top left corner edge, there is a bit of orange color missing and it is about to split on the seam. About 1/3" along the top got chewed on by my daughter's cat this AM.
I have also added a picture of the actual label because so many people have asked about it.
In the newest photo of the label, you will notice the glare from my television bouncing off of the record album on the right bottom side. That goes to show how very shiny the album still is.
