Description
What you are bidding on is a mega rare, vinyl collectors dream, WIRL [West Indies Records Ltd.) records release #L/P 1013 "This is Ska, the big beat SKA" from the early1960s. This is the rare lime green vinyl version
This is where Ska, Reggae, Calypso started. WIRL records owned by Edward Seagga and later by the great Byron Lee, who changed the name to Dynamic Sounds, were the first to produce the local sounds of Jamaica. This album is a one off "live" studio recording with Osbert Graham and a full backing band performing some of the local sounds and songs of early music in Jamaica. This album is pressed on lime green "see-thru" thick vinyl and is the rarer of the three different pressings (one is green, one grey and one on regular black vinyl).
The front of the label is in (VG) condition with no markings, the reverse has a price written very small in pen on the bottom that could possibly be cleaned off but I did not want to accidentally ruin it, and the spine is splitting.
The colored vinyl comes with a generic sleeve and is in (VG+) condition with no scratches or cuts and only a couple of very small black spots on side two that I could not clean off but do not effect the play.
The record will be shipped in the sleeve but outside of label to protect it from any damages and will be shipped in a very thick cardboard box with plenty of protection to keep it from being bent.
Also, if requested only, I can add shipping insurance at no extra charge for piece of mind.
