Mel Torme 1st Press US LP Comin' home baby VG+ '62 Atlantic 8069 MONO Soul Jazz


Original 1st Press US LP released in 1962 on Atlantic Records. cat: 8069. This album is in MONO. Last track side one has misprinted titled and writing credit.

Paced by his only hit of the rock era, Comin' Home Baby! is a real crossover record, balancing a few groovy dance numbers (like the title track) with early-'60s cool jazz versions of the standards "Walkin'," "Moanin'," and "On Green Dolphin Street." Shorty Rogers, who arranged the record except for the two hit hopefuls (Claus Ogerman's "Comin' Home Baby!" and "Right Now"), attempts to equal Marty Paich's excellent arrangement on the mid-'50s records. "Moanin'" is a stale recasting of the superior Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross version.

 There are some spindle marks on labels. Record has some light scuff marks and a few very lights cratches that cause a few light crackles and is in VG+ condition. Cover has some light marks and tiny surface tears around edges and is in VG+ condition.


Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
