Here we have a “lilac” G&T (actually somewhat faded over 119 years!) labelled as a “GRAMOPHONE MELBA RECORD” with a printed “autograph” and sung by Nellie Melba.

She’s performing one of her show-pieces, “Caro Nome” from Rigoletto (Verdi).

The issue number is 03025, it was recorded in London in 1904, and it’s the same recording as Victor 95018 (Thank you Robert Johannesson).

Nellie is accompanied by an orchestra, prominently featuring a couple of flutes who sound as though they must’ve been bravely standing immediately behind her as she faced the acoustic recording horn.

Because it is such an early G&T, the disc didn’t have a very shiny surface, even when new. It has the semi-sheen of many G&Ts of this era.

It is VERY clean and tidy, with only a few light handling marks that do not sound. It is unscratched. Neither needle nor pesky grit-in-the-sleeve has diminished its loveliness.

NO OVERSEAS bidders please.

And NO OVERSEAS bidders using UK addresses please.

SORRY, NO BUYER COLLECT...but.. if you buy MORE THAN ONE RECORD we will give you a HUGE discount on POSTAGE!  Also, if you live in East Anglia, we might personally deliver it, if you're not too far away.
