Description
Mello-Kings 78 RPM Harold Records 502, Tonight, Tonight/Do Baby Do Blues/R&B/Doo wop. Pretty good shape, even play on both sides, tonight side maybe more play. Has the jukebox label!
General Info on these 78's: Condition is "Used". Part of a huge lot I rescued from a garage sale for too much money because I knew someone would want these and I can't let good records die in a driveway. There will be scores to a couple hundred ultimately listed, most blues, R&B, and doo wop, some old country and old time. The record and sleeve (if available) you see is what you get. Every listing will show AT LEAST both sides labels, both sides full views, both sides close-up, usually trying to catch the most prominent smudge or scuff I can see, any mark or scratch that is notable enough to mention if present, and one picture of the record playing, just to prove I did it. I'll also include a front and back of the matching sleeve if I have it. These are old Juke singles, so occasionally I can even match up the original box labels and send them along.
Many/most have a matching sleeve but they were randomized so the match is by record label ONLY and I can't guarantee it's the exact for that record and that year. If no sleeve shown, a vintage blank MAY be sent, but I'm running low, so no guarantee. Every record listed received a basic cleaning and was played through on both sides on a cheap portable Crosley player with built in speakers (my good turntable doesn't have 16/78 speed). Only records that played through are listed (no skips that stopped play on the Crosley).
I'm not a pro or know 78 standards and won't offer a grade but based on what I've read, these will GENERALLY count as VG/VG- to be safe, and priced accordingly, although many or many sides are better. Marks generally shown, didn't seem to impact playing unless noted above in specific description. Please ask BEFORE bidding if any questions or concerns about condition. In almost every case one side is more heavily played than the other, in some cases notably so (like a solid grade or two difference between sides) which I will try to state and you will be able to see in images. Others which I guess weren't popular titles in the jukebox are evenly worn and some downright shiny.
Shipping info: Shipped with USPS Media Mail. Will combine shipping for actual weight on multiple purchases, shipped in proper, new record mailers with padding. Now, for those of you who just cringed, please, read on....
First, please note my perfect arrival record and positive feedback on these records. Yes, I have been sent the link to the article that demands 78s get shipped in a Volkswagen size box of peanuts. No, I will not be doing that, but I will eschew my standard packaging utilizing a bag of rocks, just to be safe. Just kidding, once again, note my perfect arrival feedback. I kid because I love. And because I've discovered 78 collectors are of a type. I'm not judging, unroll a vintage poster wrong and not wearing cotton gloves in front of me and I will throw a tantrum like a 4 year old. I get it. But I'm trying to share these with collectors who will appreciate them and moving along at a fair price to make the effort worth it, not fight over condition and shipping. Please, please, please, to quote a recent James Brown 78 I recently sold for a bargain that you probably missed out on, just communicate if you have questions or concerns.
If you are looking for anything in particular, please ask, I might have it. Also more than happy to entertain offers on lots to get these to a good home. I also really like The Clash and Joe Strummer, so if you are sitting on anything like that, feel free to mention it. I don't have local pickup on for these singles but check out my location, if you want a bunch it's a possibility. Whew! Thank goodness this is now a template, I couldn't possibly have written this twice.
