Description
Very rare Railway 12" LP 'Memories Of The McCloud' FSRS-1411 A memorable listening experience in steam railroading.
It all begins at McCloud, that historic Northern California lumber town, where the air is rich witha piny tang, and where meandering Squaw Valley Creek journeys southward to join the McCloud River on its march toward one of Lake Shasta's groping tentacles. They're cranking up Engine No.25, a 144,000- pound steam locomotive built in 1925, for the 61-mile journey through Dry Creek, Obie, Ditch Creek and Arkrite, past the Goose Valley Junction, down to Burney. Some of the West's most exciting trout fishing is available here. There's something special about an excursion on the McCloud, whether it's the pulse-quickening ride to Burney across the spectacular Pit River Bridge, or the shorter, switchback-studded run to Mount Shasta City at the foot of hulking, 14,000-foot Mount Shasta itself. So come aboard #25 for an unforgettable adventure through the miracle of sound. You'll want to retrace your route on the McCloud River line ... again and again.
This live, on-the-scene recording was achieved through advanced and highly mobile stereophonic equipment. Its unique versatility has enabled sound engineers to attain unprecedented proximity to the locomotive's working parts. The result is a totally new dimension in authentic railroad sound.
