Description

Candid 8023 (mono), “Memphis Slim’s Tribute to Big Bill Broonzy, Leroy Carr, Cow Cow Davenport, Curtis Jones, and Jazz Gillum”, from the early 1960s. This is stamped “DJ Copy” on both jacket back and labels. The two-tone label vinyl plays at VG++ with negligible background static that is audible mainly between tracks. The matte jacket has strong seams and square corners with little color loss, but there is a bit of visible light cracking that could develop into splits someday; there is just a hint of ringwear on the front at top and bottom (see scan); the jacket back is very clean with no writing. Songs are “I Feel So Good”, “Rockin’ Chair Blues”, “Baby Gone”, “Cow Cow Blues”, “Miss Ida B.”, “Forty-Four Blues”, “Troubled in Mind”, “Worried Life Blues”, “I Don’t Want My Rooster Crowing after the Sun Goes Down”, “Lonesome in My Bedroom”, “Diggin’ My Potatoes”, and “In the Evening”. All in all, the best copy of this LP that I have ever seen.
