redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This excellent LP from EMI (1C 067 14-3644-1, German Electrola pressing / DMM · Direct Metal Mastering, large dog red semi-circle label, DDD stereo) features late recordings by the great Yehudi Menuhin of violin concertos by Jean-Marie Leclair and Giuseppe Tartini.
He is accompanied throughout by conductor Jerzy Maksymiuk and the Polish Chamber Orchestra, with whom Menuhin would develop a special rapport. Menuhin was still on fine form at this late date and the recordings sound superb.
The exact contents are as follows:
Jean-Marie Leclair: Violin Concerto in D minor Op. 7 No. 1
Jean-Marie Leclair: Violin Concerto in A minor Op. 7 No. 5
Giuseppe Tartini: Violin Concerto in D Major D. 36
Giuseppe Tartini: Violin Concerto in C Major D. 12
All four works were recorded in May and June 1983 at EMI Studio No. 1, Abbey Road, London (producer: John Fraser / engineer: Stuart Eltham).
The striking cover photo of Menuhin was taken by Richard Holt. There are informative liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, provided in English, German, and French.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is very minor wear along the open edge of the jacket, but that is all. Otherwise, the album appears almost as new. Overall, this rates as an outstanding collector's copy.
The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
