Description

SR 90366, Hovhaness Symphony No. 4, Giannini, Symphony No.3, Clyde Roller, Eastman Wind Ensemble.  This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old RFR Vendor pressing.  It is one of the rarest and best of the Mercury Living Presence LPs and is ranked #2 on Sid Marks’ list of the all-time best Mercury recordings in TAS.  The sound on side 1 is particularly amazing with its tam-tam, glockenspiel, chimes, vibraphone and bells, all with pinpoint imaging in a wide and deep stage.  This is my own personal copy, and the vinyl is very close to mint.  The surfaces are clean, glossy and quiet – there are only two very light tics on side 1 and one on side 2. The vinyl grading is NM.  The labels are clean and look new with no spindle wear. The jacket and inner sleeve are likewise NM (see photos).  In summary, this is a beautiful copy of this wonderfully dynamic golden age recording.
