Description
This is one of the greatest of al Mercury's. SR-90226 in the earliest FR-1/ FR-3. Antal Dorati is conducting the London Symphony Orchestra in, Igor Stravinsky's "The Firebird Ballet in Two Scenes". Dorati was always great with any of Stravinsky's's pieces, but he really out did himself in this recording. The beautiful "Enchanted Garden will suck you in to this recording and leave you breathless. The sound stage is just right, and you can pick out every instrument. Sid Marks, in TAS, considers this the best Firebird of them all, and I concur. This is the earliest Color Back cover version and is the earliest stamper. You can tell by the tiny 1/8" run-out groove on side 2. The cover is Mint- with only a tiny bit of ege and corner wear, and no seam splits. The deep groove maroon and silver label vinyl is Mint- on both sides. There are a few ticks near the end of side 2. This is truely one of the greatest Mercury's of all time.
