Mike Hurley "First Songs" Folkways FG 3581 Mono 1965
Here is an extremely nice copy of this very rare and wonderful debut LP from Michael Hurley. It comes with all the original inserts - a three page interview / history of sorts with the then 22 year old artist. Also included in this copy is an insert of lyrics by Peter Stampfel, who was in the Holy Modal Rounders. Not sure the relevance of this insert being with this particular record, it's possible that the previous owner put it in there for some reason or another..
This particular copy is probably the nicest Folkways record I've ever seen - The cover is Near Mint, the only reason I wouldn't call it completely Mint is because there is a very small price sticker on the back (see picture). It is gorgeous, bright orange red, and heavy. Like many Folkways records, it comes with an extra cardboard backing inside the jacket. Very hard to believe that this record is from 1965.
The vinyl is also Near Mint - very clean and shiny, no noticeable marks. The label on Side A has a few very minor markings around the spindle hole, but Side B is very clean. I found this at a record store a few years ago and was shocked at its condition, and even though I'm a huge Michael Hurley fan, I couldn't bring myself to listen to this record more than a couple of times because of its pristine condition.
