Safety copy reel to reel from the Mediasound NY recording studio of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger and David Bowie's duet for the "Live Aid" charity drive of the rock/soul classic "Dancing In The Street" (which they literally did in the video, years later shown complete during a "Family Guy" episode with Seth MacFarlane / Peter Griffin declaring it "The gayest video ever made"); a song often recorded, originally by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas for Motown and also memorably by Cass Elliot and the Mamas and the Papas.
This artifact of the first step in creating the 12" EP for 1985 release, just before digital recording became the norm. This is a 10" Ampex reel to reel tape on a metal frame (no wear to the tape, very slight to the frame) in a somewhat aged and worn box with the information sheet attached to the front, as pictured. The tape includes the 12" mix, dub mix and single mix and edit.
This kind of thing rarely offered, by two of the biggest stars in rock over decades, and their only collaboration.
Played back on a reel to reel player, this will be extraordinary sound quality. The vinyl revival hasn't yet discovered that reel to reels were even better sound, one less generation of transfer.
Note the reel is quite heavy, the postal charges reflecting this.
