Description
This is an original French Stateside EMI label pressing of Walking Circles by Midnight Sun from 1972 with cover art by the amazing Roger Dean who also did cover art for several Yes LPs and other bands. Below is a description that I found, track list, band members, etc. The cover of this LP is EX- due to some minor wear and the vinyl is visually Mint-. The spindlehole doesn't look like it's even been on a turntable but I can't grade anything Mint unless I know for sure that it's never been played. I definitely did not play grade this LP. Shipping in the U.S. is $4.00 for media mail and $8.00 for priority mail. Out of the U.S. will be figured out by eBay at the end of the auction. I surely will give a full refund if there is an issue with my grading. I always use delivery confirmation to protect myself and my customers. That is in the U.S. only.
To me this seems like a very honest review:
""Walking Circles" was, in my opinion only, a bit of a disappointing album, but it does reach the same heights as the superior debut LP at times. Track 1 is "Can You Hear the Music Play", a bland, so-so lightweight pop tune that never would have made it on their debut album. It starts getting better on "Country Song", because of the typical excellent solo-passages that Midnight Sun always had in most of their songs. But as a whole it's still not convincing yet. This LP really gets going on track 3 which is a powerful instrumental titled "A La Turca". This song has many trademarks of Midnight Sun at their best with melodic, jazzy sax and piano, along with heavy riffs and outstanding soloing. This level of quality continues in "The Way of Zen", but in a different musical frame. It's a laid back and atmospheric ballad centereded mostly around piano and some ethereal flute. Stief's acoustic bass also makes a return here. The record unfortunately, does return to mediocrity with "I've Got A New Mind" that opens side 2. BUT...the band returns to form for the rest of the album. "Winds Gonna Blow" starts out with some gorgeous, jazzy flute-themes and a nice string-arrangement that further enhances the strong melody. May be the albums best tune. The title-track is the most complex piece here, with the el-piano playing one of the main roles. "I'm Living A Dream" is very short but good, mid-tempo jazzy song that closes this partly uneven but still worthwhile album. But the be sure to get the debut first. Midnight Sun might be the only Scandinavian band who had album covers designed by Roger Dean".
