MIKE OLDFIELD AND JON ANDERSON - SHINE / THE PATHINCREDIBLY RARE UNCUT PICTURE DISPLAYS SUPERBLY
Genuine in superb condition, the overall vinyl measures 12” and the plastic/vinyl has some runs in it that would morally have been removed when it was cut to shape.
Run out groove has the catalogue numbers etched VSS863A1/VSS863B1 respectively & the initials SRT for the pressing operator.
A real true rarity and for any Oldifeld collector, a must have.
Listed separately are a number of other rare uncut picture discs. These came from a collection that have been stored in a loft since 1988 and came from a worker at the OLAKE pressing plant in Dagenham, Essex, UK.
WHEN MAKING A SHAPED PICTURE DISC, THE RECORD PLANT WOULD FIRSTLY PRODUCE AN UNCUT VERSION
THIS WAS TO TEST TO SEE IF THE IMAGE WOULD FIT PROPERLY INTO THE FORMAT AS THEY COULD ONLY BE PRESSED ON 12" DISCS
ONCE AGREED THE COPIES WOULD THEN BE CUT TO THE CORRECT SHAPE READY TO BE SOLD
THE UNCUT SAMPLES WOULD THEN BE DESTROYED
IT IS SAID THAT THERE WERE ONLY A FEW UNCUT TESTERS MADE OF EACH RECORD AND THIS IS WHY THEY ARE SO HARD TO COME BY AS MOST WERE IN FACT JUNKED
THERE ARE ALWAYS THOSE THAT WOULD SAVE A COPY OR TWO FROM THE SCRAP PILE AND THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SAVES ITEMS
I DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN MORE THAT THIS IS A VERY RARE ITEM INDEED
