For a long time I wondered why the titles in this series went for big bucks in Japan. I always wrongly assumed based on the era in which they were reissued that it was just some hype I didn’t understand. When I finally broke down, took a chance and bought a couple (Quiet Kenny and Bags Groove) and played them I was absolutely floored. Cut by Tohru Kotetsu, who is probably the most highly revered cutting engineer in Japan, the sound on the titles in this series is some of the most gorgeous I have ever heard. They are “demo” level, definitely guaranteed all analog and simply mind bending, superlative masterworks of mono’s sonic capabilities. They are “audiophile” in every way. Alive with detail but very purist and not overcooked in any area of the tonality spectrum. They are balanced and accurate, the frequency extension mesmerizing and the soundstage huge and captivating. I held off saying anything about these for a while because I wanted to obtain every title in the series before “spilling the beans” as it were. They are already so pricey as it is when you can find them I didn’t want the ones I needed to go any higher. But now that I own them all and have obtained a few extras the cat is out of the bag. Sometimes, it’s not just hype folks. I now understand why these have always been pricey. They are worth every penny and are on the level of the very finest Music Matters reissues but for my money even better. And that’s no exaggeration. If you like originals then these aren’t for you. These are full frequency audiophile reissues. I’ve yet to hear a title in this series that did not immediately become the definitive pressing of that title in my own library. As most of you know, I don’t often feel it necessary to say much about a pressing or “sell” it as I think people do their own research and have their own taste anyway, but for these I make an exception. That’s how much I love them.

 Every item gets a grade we feel confident in; period.
We don't grade something NM and then detail a bunch of defects which really dance around the reality that the actual grade isn't really NM in the end. Sometimes we'll note important details, but typically our approach is "no nonsense." 

Inner sleeves, inserts and so forth can be assumed to be on par with the
grade the cover has received. If something isn't, we'll make a special mention of it.
