DESCRIPTION:

"BAGS' GROOVE": MILES DAVIS & THE MODERN JAZZ GIANTS. 1959 UK 1st ISSUE MONO Cat no: 32-090 on the UK ESQUIRE Record Label. (PRLP-7109-A;PRLP-7109-B) Featuring Rudy Van Gelders RVG stamp in the deadwax This album was recorded during two sessions on 29th June & 24th December 1954 at Van Gelder Studio, Hackensack, New Jersey. Both takes of the title track come from the later session, with vibraphonist Milt Jackson (Bags being his nickname). The rest of the album was recorded earlier June session. It was not released untill 1957 in the US on the Prestige Label (PRLP 7109).

This copy was first released in the UK in 1959 on the Esquire Label. The pressing quality and heavyweight vinyl exude quality

CONDITION:

Items described with an aural grade have been carefully played on a Garrard 301 turntable with an SME 312s tonearm and Koetsu Rosewood cartridge. All records are viewed under magnified light and cleaned on a wet vac cleaning machine  

Record:

The surfaces feature a full rainbow lustre under bright angled light. The textured UK Esquire labels are in superb condition - No writing, rips, stickers or other blemishes. Some use to the spindle holes although this record has been played very carefully. Very feignt scuffs from inner sleeve only – No audible marks. The disk is flat and well centered.  Condition grade a very conservative EX (Excellent)

Cover:

The Front Laminated thin Flip Back Cover retains it’s full original Colour. The corners are sharp and the seams true. The opening edge displays minimal feathering. The unlaminated back slick displays well showing light discoloration and minimal light creasing / ring wear. A taped name sticker is present top middle along with the number 120.  All text is fully legible. The flip backs are intact and secure (bottom left slightly creased). No other detractors = Very Good  (VG)

Grading Guide:

Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

NEAR MINT: Very close to Mint with only the slightest signs of play and the very lightest paper chaffing only to the surfaces of the record. The cover shows only the very slightest wear

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Packaging:

Records within the inner sleeve will be removed from the cover and sandwiched between professional card stiffeners then inserted into a protective plastic sleeve. This package is then placed within a professional cruciform record mailer (N.B: We do not use cheap mailers)
