Miles Davis “Birth of the Cool” – Capitol T-762 – Original 1957 Turquoise Label Mono – VG+ / VG+ – Early Scranton Pressing
Offered from a group of dozens of jazz albums recently discovered after decades in storage, this is an original turquoise-label mono pressing of Miles Davis’ Birth of the Cool on Capitol T-762. A true early Capitol Scranton pressing with verified deadwax, highly desirable to Miles and cool jazz collectors.
Vinyl: VG+ (Goldmine)
• Visually: clean gloss with light surface marks and hairlines only; no feelable scratches.
• Play: strong sound, with only light background noise in a few spots that does not overpower the music; no skips or warps.
• Graded conservatively using Goldmine standards.
Cover: VG+ (Goldmine)
• Original Capitol jacket in very nice shape.
• Minimal ringwear; front and back artwork remain bright and presentable.
• Single ~2-inch split at the top-right corner on the opening edge; rest of seams and spine are intact and solid.
• Corners and spine clean with readable spine text.
Deadwax / Pressing Details
• Label: Turquoise Capitol with “LONG PLAYING HIGH FIDELITY” at bottom rim, mono T-762 catalog number.
• Side 1 deadwax: T1-762-D6 #3 with Scranton anvil (⊲) plant mark.
• Side 2 deadwax: T2-762-D#2 (early D-series cut).
These details confirm an authentic early 1957 Capitol Scranton pressing, not a later rainbow-label or reissue.

This LP comes from a recently uncovered stash of jazz records that had been stored away for decades, untouched. It has been carefully cleaned and graded on a quality system.
