Description

Miles Davis with Lee Konitz & Gerry Mulligan “Birth of The Cool” 1957 first 12” pressing Capitol Records Turquoise label (# T-762 mono) in a cardboard sleeve. The record grading is Good Plus (G+). Side 1 is playable, yet there’s a persistent light background “hiss”. Also, On Side 1/track 1 there’s a defect in the groove itself at the beginning that creates a “hiss-like” reoccurring sound (like a tick) for ~50 seconds. Oddly enough, all of Side 2 plays great (VG+-to-EX) with minimal background noise & excellent fidelity. Visually, BOTH sides of the album are very clean & glossy with almost no visible marks. The following is on the runout groove:


  • Side A): (stamped) -T1-762- D2#2 'Anvil / Lathe' symbol

  • Side B): (stamped) -T2-762- D1#2 'Anvil / Lathe' symbol

  • NOTES:

  • * 1st Pressing on turquoise label with Capitol dome logo at top, "Long Playing" printed to label.

  • * 2nd press differs, having "Long Playing • High Fidelity" printed to label.

  • * Text around the rim on this release reads "Manufactured By Capitol Records Inc • Hollywood, California • U.S.A."


The outer case is Excellent (EX). The front cover and back covers are very clean & smooth with just very minor wear on the back. The spine and bottom seam are EX; the top seam just has very light wear. There are no splits. Overall, a very sturdy cover. (all reflected in the photos) All sales final.


NOTE:  This album will ship with the inner sleeve & record OUTSIDE of the cover as to prevent any possible seam damage to the cover during shipment. Both the album cover and the inner sleeve & vinyl will be contained within a plastic protective sleeve inside of the shipping box with padding on top & bottom
