Description

Miles Davis + 19 Miles Ahead orchestra under the direction of Gil Evans (Columbia CL 1041) 6-eye mono

Davis (tpt) and Evans (arr) with 19-piece band.

Recorded in may and august 1957.
Issue: The first mono release, which had more than one pressing. My copy has label titles centered on side one but not on side two.

Side A runout: XLP 41762-1D Side B runout: XLP 41763-1C
Condition:VG+. Little spindle wear on side A; less on side B. No visible marks, only minor blemishes.
LP cover photo unmarked but with water stain in bottom third; stain more noticeable on back cover. Controversial photo of woman and boy - Davis demanded that Columbia withdraw it and issue a different one - looks good considering the age (of album not woman and boy) and water stain. No ringwear. Spine has small splits in places but album top edge is intact. Bottom edge, too, with the help of a thin piece of two-and-a-half-inch tape (carefully applied, probably decades ago). Original owner wrote on back cover his location and a 1958 date.

I'm an independent seller divesting his own record collection. I'm not selling from a store or warehouse, with multiple copies of titles, or on behalf of a professional collector.

Shipping: Ebay requires seller to indicate shipping methods and other particulars, then automatically inserts the cost at the top of the listing. Buyer will pay amount as determined by destination and shipping method he chooses; I don't gouge the price to make more profit. (USPS Media Mail is cheapest; I will provide prices for US Priority, or for FedEx or UPS ground, if requested.)

Insurance is mandatory: Please wait till I inform you of cost prior to submitting payment. It and not Ebay's stated cost is the amount to be paid.

**For winners outside US**: USPS shipping options are International Priority and International Express. Both methods include insurance but only Express has tracking. If you want a different shipper, I will quote you the cost at end of auction.

Packing: The LP will be carefully wrapped, then placed in a standard, cardboard LP box. Please indicate any special instructions.

Payment: I accept Paypal. I also accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries.

Returns: Returns will be accepted in cases of error in description.

N A record known to be new. This includes factory sealed records.
NM   A record known or assumed to have been played. May have a surface scuff mark but only from removing and reinserting record in sleeve. May have slight spindle wear. Otherwise, appears same as N in all respects.
VG++ More handling marks visible on record than on NM, but should play like new.
VG+ No more than a few minor blemishes. Such marks may be described in detail.
VG More than a few scratches. No appreciable groove wear.
