Description
1968 U.K. STEREO textured label CBS pressing of Miles Davis ‘Nefertiti’ L.P. (CBS 63248 / CS 9594). The band here features Herbie Hancock and Tony Williams. I’m in no doubt that this is a first pressing. It has the ‘period’ CBS-style sleeve. The constructions of this Ernest J. Day and Co Ltd. Is back-to-front with the front cover pasted onto a fold running along the spine. They were only manufactured like this for a couple of years in the late 60s. This does mean you get a ripple along the front-sleeve where it is glued. The sleeve is easily in EXCELLENT+ condition. The rear-sleeve has an image of Davis in black ink and this is so thin that if this copy had been handled much it would start to fade. This is as black as the day it was manufactured. Beneath a thin layer of dirt (in places) the laminate on the front cover has a made-yesterday like sheen. As with the copy of ‘E.S.P.’ I’m also selling this week it is hard to discern that this has even been played. The vinyl is graded as being in NEAR MINT condition (more condition details below).

The sleeve is conservatively graded as being in EXCELLENT+ condition. One of the corners has received a light knock (however, the others are as straight as the day this was manufactured) and the vinyl has made an impression on the sleeve at the top, which can be felt. The laminate also has a thin veneer of dirt, which can easily be removed. These flaws are very minor and in reality it is hard to imagine that you will find a better example.

Again, has this copy been played? I can see one or two light hairline scratches presumably as a result of the vinyl being removed from the sleeve for review otherwise it looks like it was pressed yesterday. This is as close to NEW as you are going to get and is graded NEAR MINT!
Concluding Remarks
A simply stunning copy of library-like condition. Buy this and put it in museum! Better still buy this and ‘E.S.P.’ and put them both in a museum! Please check my other auctions for further Davis and vintage modern jazz Lps in stunning condition!
