Description
For sale is this wonderful vintage vinyl LP of MILES DAVIS - KIND OF BLUE on CBS Records 1959. This lovely copy is 1962 CBS U.K. Mono re-issue. It features a front-laminated full-bleed sleeve with unlaminated paste-over back cover sheet and sleeve notes by the late Benny Green. The disc has the rough textured orange CBS labels of the period. The catalogue number is BPG 62066 (CL 1355). The matrices of this disc are as follows:
Side One - BPG 62066 ▽ 2L ▽ 2//420TX 1 1 2 Side Two - BPG 62066 ▽ 1L ▽ 3//420 X 1 1 8
Condition*:
The sleeve is graded VG+. The laminated front has some light wear to the surface. The gloss lamination has become separated in a few places particularly along the opening edge (pictured) but is not peeling. There is a light impression of the disc when held up to the light. There is no significant creasing. There is a little wear to the bottom L/H corner but very little wear to the other corners. The edges and spine have almost no wear. There is a some bowing to the sleeve. The back is very tidy. There is some darkening to the paper but few signs of handling and no dirty marks. The text is crisp and unworn.
The disc is VG+. The surface is dark and glossy with signs of previous play. Under harsh light there are a fair few light marks and hairlines and a couple of light scratches on either side. The disc has been played through from start to finish. There is a short scratch on Side One very close to the start of Track One - So What? that makes a noticeable low tick that dissipates over the course of ten turns of the disc. On speakers I felt it was at a tolerable level. On headphones it sounded more intrusive. Thereafter the disc plays faultlessly with nothing worse than occasional low crackle. Overall a really great playable copy of this gorgeous early pressing that I highly recommend.

I can only give an honest appraisal based on careful visual inspection and thorough play testing. I do try to describe all significant faults and I certainly won't intentionally hide anything. Please read the description carefully, look at the pictures and make your own mind up. The grading scale I have used goes from G to NM with VG+ as par. In other words: Good (G), Very Good (VG), Very Good+ (VG+), Excellent (EX) and Near Mint (NM). Anything better than that would be Mint and would be listed as new. Anything worse than Good I probably wouldn't be selling.
