Description
For sale is a rare copy of Kind of Blue: it is a Canadian mono 6-eye pressing from 1959. Maroon and silver deep groove label. It has the rare errors of the early pressings, such as the misspelling of "Adderly" and the mixed-up order of Flamenco Sketches / All Blues on the jacket.
According to the dead wax info I believe New York stampers were used but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Dead Wax on side A reads "XLP47324-1B" at 9 o'clock and " I I A I I / I \ I" scratched in by hand at 3 o'clock.
Dead Wax on side B reads "XLP47325-1B" at 5 o'clock and " I I I" scratched in by hand at 11 o'clock.
Condition of the record is damn good, I'd rate it EX+ with just a very minor mark on side B keeping it from a NM- (you can barely see it in the photo of the record on my turntable, look at about 4 o'clock at the end of All Blues). Shiny gloss that is rare on records this old. No spindle marks on the label. I spun it on my turntable and found no warping at either the center or edge. Sound quality is exceptional. Personally, this is the cleanest looking and sounding 6 eye I have seen/heard. But please observe in the picture that a previous owner put a catalog sticker on the label.
Condition of the jacket is also extremely good. No stains and no seam splits, only a few white marks here and there. I uploaded high res photos so you can have a good look at the jacket condition.
