FIRST UK MONO VINYL PRESSING OF THE QUINTET'S LEGENDARY POST-BOP ALBUM!
Seldom seen in its original Mono form in UK auctions is a beautiful FIRST UK MONO PRESSING of the Miles Davis Quintet's Miles Smiles (CBS BPG-62933). All UK mono pressing characteristics are present. I have fully play-tested the vinyl, so my grading is based on how the record actually sounds, as well as how it looks.
Vinyl is strictly graded in Very Good++ condition - the audio is nice and clear with the occasional faint pop/crackle in quieter passages. The mono recording definitely the way to hear this album, as it really enhances the power of the quintet, especially Tony Williams on drums. Visually the vinyl has a couple of light marks on the surface which I've tried to reflect in the photos, but these play as purely cosmetic on my system (I've slightly downgraded the vinyl from Excellent on this basis).
Cover is graded in Excellent- condition - generally Excellent, but overall grade just brought down by slight discolouring around the edge of the back cover & spine. Otherwise, a lovely copy.
Note that I separate the vinyl from the outer sleeve for postage to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me, and in the way I'd like to receive them.
