Description
Up for auction is a Classic Records audiophile 12" 45rpm 4 record set (all single sided) of Miles Davis' SKETCHES OF SPAIN, arranged and conducted by Gil Evans, and engineered by Fred Plaut at Columbia's famed "30th Street" Studio C. Mastered by Bernie Grundman. This is the original release from Classic and NOT their later release on "Quiex" vinyl. Many people prefer Classic's early vinyl releases vs. the Quiex ones, so you're getting the earlier oft-considered superior release.
The covers have corner dings at the tops, and show a faint amount of ring-wear in the black portion of the bottom. This was both how I received them originally, but will therefore grade them an 8.5.
The set of records grade at least a 9.5, except record 3 has a tiny mark on "Saeta" from when I originally purchased it. This minor visual flaw is of no audible consequence on my equipment. See grading scale below.
I bought this record when it was a new release as a sealed copy. It has only been played on a Rega Planar 3, with either a Grado Reference Platinum, Sonata, or a Shure V15 VxMR cartridge, and treated with care.

Grading scale (grades 9 & 10 used sparingly):
Covers Gem Mint 10 – Cover is virtually perfect, without defect.
Mint 9 – Cover has no visible wear. Colors are full and bright. There will be no serious defects.
Near Mint 8 – Cover seems new at first glance, but has some barely noticeable wear. Colors are full, but may be subdued. White areas may have some very slight aging.
Excellent 7 – Cover has some very minor wear, but no serious defects. Some minor friction or light flaking may exist. Corners are relatively sharp, with maybe some minor wear. May have some age mellowing of the white and colored areas.
Very Good-Excellent 6 – Some moderate wear will be noticeable on artwork, but there will be no serious problems. Corners will not have significant wear.
Records Gem Mint 10 – Vinyl has no imperfections.
Mint 9 – Vinyl has no meaningful imperfections. Vinyl luster is full.
Near Mint 8 – Vinyl has a few minor imperfections and should play without noticeable surface noise. Vinyl luster is nearly full.
Excellent 7 – Vinyl has a few noticeable imperfections. Vinyl still displays some luster. Record may play with some slight surface noise, but nothing very distracting.
Very Good 6 – Vinyl has more noticeable, but not major, imperfections. May display some original luster. Record may play with some more surface noise than a grade 7, but will not overwhelm the sound.
