Cookin' with the Miles Davis Quintet
Rare Original 1st Press UK LP released in 1957 on Decca pressed RVG stamped Esquire Records Label. Cat:32-048.
Cookin' is the first of four albums derived from the Miles Davis Quintet's fabled extended recording session on October 26, 1956; the concept being that the band would document its vast live-performance catalog in a studio environment, rather than preparing all new tracks for its upcoming long-player. The bounty of material in the band's live sets as well as the overwhelming conviction in the quintet's studio sides would produce the lion's share of the Cookin', Relaxin', Workin', and Steamin' albums. As these recordings demonstrate, there is an undeniable telepathic cohesion that allows this band consisting of Miles Davis (trumpet), John Coltrane (tenor sax), Red Garland (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Philly Joe Jones (drums) to work so efficiently both on the stage and the studio. This same unifying force is also undoubtedly responsible for the extrasensory dimensions scattered throughout these recordings.

Labels are lovely and clean , no sign of spindle marks. On the A-side label some of the red Esquire lettering has been slightly rubbed. Record has a few light scuff marks that cause a few light crackles and is in Excellent condition. Cover has a small tear on centre spine edge and cella glaze is lifting slightly along bottom half of spine, cover also has very light ring wear and a name written in blue pen on back left centre edge (very small). Cover is in VG+ condfition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.
Post methods within Australia: All records are posted via Australia Post. Within Australia all items come with a tracking number.
Post method for overseas: All parcels are sent via Australia Post and are sent on a standard airmail service. There are no tracking numbers on these items. If you require a tracking number the item will have to be sent as an insured item which incurs a further postage fee.
