Millicent Martin - Millicent
(Columbia 33SX 1145 UK LP 1959)
This is a UK original Mono LP pressing. It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve. It comes with its original generic polythene lined "Emitex" company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has green and gold "Columbia" labels. These are grooved also. The record has 1st press -1N/ -1N matrix stampers. A genuine UK 1st pressing of this very rare UK Jazz Vocal LP. Millicent is backed by Tony Osborne & His Orchestra.
Sleeve: Sadly, the sleeve is very worn. There is a 20 cm seam split that runs along over half over the bottom edge. This runs from the sleeve opening. There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the bottom edge on this area too. There is considerable fading to the "white" of the rear sleeve. There is a 2 cm seam split at the top edge at the sleeve opening. There is some light or very mild rubbing wear to the top edge on some areas. There is an area of mild rippling on the front sleeve. There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the front spine edge. There is some moderate rubbing wear to the top 3 cm of the spine. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear. Fair condition
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. There are 6 light hairline marks. A couple are quite long. These measure from 2 cm to 10 cm in length. All of the hairline marks are mainly on Side 2. Side 1 is in VG condition. Side 2 is in Good+ condition. Overall, Very Good minus condition. The labels are in near mint condition & show next to no spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the background to a varying degree. There is some more moderate crackle toward the end of the last song on Side 1. The crackle never overpowers the music. Overall, a very serviceable audio copy.
