Description

I am having a bit of a clear out and relinquishing some of my Jazz records. They have been well cared for and cleaned during my ownership. I am starting all auctions at 99p with NO reserve so a chance to grab some real bargains as they are all rare sought after records. I could write a long listing for each but will keep the info below brief and if any further questions, images or videos of them playing are required please let me know. I am happy to combine postage costs and will do every second LP free postage via PayPal refund. All ratings are done using the Goldmine Standard and are both play and visually rated.

Milt Jackson With The Thelonious Monk Quintet.

Blue Note Records BLP 1509.

A compilation, this version was originally reissued in 1955 mastered by Rudy Van Gelder and artwork by Reid Miles. This extremely rare copy I believe is the first repress of the remastered Van Gelder version from 1955, but this repress was probably released in 1957 as one side has the 47 West address and the other the 747 Lexington address. Blue Note did use up old labels that they had left over and between 1955 and 1957 they moved to the 47 West address.

Recorded at the Apex Studios, NYC, on July 2, 1948 (tracks B3, B4), at the WOR Studios, NYC, on July 23, 1951 (tracks A6, B1, B2, B6) and on April 7, 1952 (tracks A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, B5).

This pressing has "47 West 63rd New York 23" on side one and "747 Lexington Ave NYC" on side two centre label. Deep groove. 
Sleeve has 47 West 63rd address on rear.
