Description
Charles Mingus Mingus Plays Piano: Spontaneous Compositions and Improvisations (Impulse Stereo A-60) (AS-60 on center labels) gatefold
Mingus (solo p). Recorded, in New York City, on 30 july 1963.
This Issue: On front cover: Top third has title in black letters on white background. Below is large painted portrait of the artist. Impulse logo, with "STEREO A-60", in uppr-right corner. Back cover has orange background, with title in upper third, with brief text describing artist's achievement. Below that are track titles. At bottom:
"RECORDED 1963 PRINTED IN U.S.A.
"A PRODUCT OF ABC-PARAMOUNT RECORD, INC."
All writing in black letters.
Center Labels: Orange background encircles center hole with black circle around that. In black area, four "impulse!", one on each quadrant, in orange. "AS-60", in orange, is left of hole; "331/3 RPM LP", in white, is right of hole. Track titles are listed and, near bottom, in white: "A PRODUCT OF ABC-PARAMOUNT RECORDS, INC." On last line, also in white, but smaller font: "PRINTED IN U S A".
Runouts: ?Side 1: [etched]: AS-60 A [stamped] VAN GELDER STEREO Side 2: [etched]: AS-60 B [stamped] VAN GELDER STEREO
Condition of Record: VG+. Spindle wear, more on side 2. Record has been played, has a few stray marks; but the one most noticeable should not affect play. The smudges are easily cleaned. I can do so with a VPI machine if requested.
Condition of Cover: Heavy, laminated cardboard used for this gatefold has held up very well. Front surface free of nicks and scratches, leaving the artist's portrait looking very good. Back cover equally good, all text clean; minor shelfwear, with laminate beginning to fray a little bit at open-end edge. Inside of gatefold, all text and artist photo clear and clean; only marring is previous owner's name, printed in upper right corner of right face.
Spine solid, tiny bit of fraying at corners are not bumps. Open end, both top corners are bumped; bottom corners good. All horizontal edges, two at top and two at bottom (because gatefold), solid - no shelfwear, no splits.
I'm an independent seller divesting his own record collection. I'm not selling from a store or warehouse, with multiple copies of titles, or on behalf of a professional collector.
Shipping: Ebay requires seller to indicate shipping methods and other particulars, then automatically inserts the cost at the top of the listing. Buyer will pay amount as determined by destination, by shipping method he chooses, and by required insurance (see: below); I don't gouge the price to make more profit. (USPS Media Mail is cheapest; I will provide prices for US Priority, or for FedEx or UPS ground, if requested.)
Insurance is mandatory on shipments to US addresses: The final price of the item determines the amount of insurance required. Please wait till I inform you of your total cost prior to submitting payment. It and not Ebay's stated cost is the amount to be paid.
**For winners outside US**: USPS shipping options are International Priority and International Express. Both methods include insurance but only Express provides a return receipt. (Check USPS's website for shipping prices.) If you want a private-company shipper, I will quote you the cost at end of auction. First-Class-Package service, which doesn't include insurance, is an option; the shipping cost will be lower, but if your item doesn't arrive you have no recourse. The risk is yours.
Packing: The LP will be carefully placed in the standard cardboard LP box. If you want cardboard inserts for extra reinforcement, please say so.
Payment: Although Ebay now processes payments directly, I also accept Paypal. I accept cash in cases of in-person deliveries.
Returns: Returns will be accepted in cases of error in description.

N A record known to have never been played. A CD that has never been removed from its jewel case.
VG++ More handling marks than on NM but should play like new. VG+ Some wear may affect play or there may be a few minor blemishes.
VG More than a few blemishes; may have a scratch. If so, will be described in detail.
