Description

Presented is a Sterling Sound acetate copy of Ministry's 1983 debut album With Sympathy. In stark contrast to the heavy, industrial metal sound behind which they reached fame in the 1980s and 1990s, With Sympathy saw Ministry debut as a new wave synth-pop band. Although the heralded group switched to a more aggressive, distorted sound by their second album, their debut is still regarded as an important, if idiosyncratic, component of their celebrated catalogue. "Acetates" refers to a reference pressing made in the mastering process that features shellac or lacquer on top of an aluminum disc; these pressings have numerous purposes, including to direct how a final cut should be performed on later pressings, to give an idea of how the record will sound in its LP form, and, occasionally, to provide advance copies to DJs and club promoters. The album's nine tracks are split across two 33 RPM acetates that are contained within manila record sleeves. The pressings are accompanied by a With Sympathy insert. The manila sleeves, central record labeling, and insert display moderate wear (including spots of discoloration); the insert concedes unknown-hand scripting in pencil on the reverse.
