CONDITION DETAILS WHITE-LABEL PROMO. Vinyl plays with occasional light-crackles (play-graded). Gate-fold cover has a few creases near edges; scuffing (front/back). Inner-sleeve is original (generic white). Spine is unbroken, clean and easy-to-read. Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Unipak opening is crisp with signs of light use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
ABOUT THE RECORD Come to My Garden by Minnie Riperton, is her debut solo album, marking a shift from the psychedelic rock influences of her previous work with the band Rotary Connection to a more sophisticated blend of soul and orchestral arrangements. Produced and arranged by Charles Stepney, the album features lush orchestrations that highlight Riperton's extraordinary five-octave vocal range, including her signature whistle register, while incorporating contributions from notable musicians such as Ramsey Lewis on piano and a young Maurice White on drums, who would later found Earth, Wind & Fire. Many songs were co-written by Stepney and Riperton's husband Richard Rudolph, creating intimate, minor-key ballads with a dreamy, psychedelic soul atmosphere. Critics have hailed it as a masterpiece for its innovative fusion of genres and Stepney's masterful production, influencing post-soul music despite its initial commercial oversight. Fan favorites include the iconic opener Les Fleurs, celebrated for its haunting majesty and later sampled and covered widely, as well as Expecting and the title track Come to My Garden.
