DESCRIPTION: This is a very rare, mint-condition SEALED copy of the 1st pressing of Minor Threat's "Out of Step" 12" EP from March 1983, with solid black back cover. (Dischord Records No. 10, Washington, DC)  There were only 3,500 copies made in this 1st pressing.  Includes lyric sheet, as well as an original 11" x 11" "Out of Step" tour poster from 1983, featuring a picture of Ian and Lyle from Gallery East show in Boston in 1982. The band slapped these posters on the back of some copies of the first version of "Out of Step" that we sold on tour, because we were so bummed out by the all-black back cover, which resulted from my graphic arts cluelessness. Finally, I'm including a small flyer advertising 4 early Dischord records (No. 2 S.O.A., Henry Rollins' first band, before he joined Black Flag), No. 3 Minor Threat 7", No. 5 Minor Threat "In My Eyes", No. 9 Scream "Still Screaming"), and the upcoming No. 10, "Out of Step."
CONDITION / PROVENANCE:  As stated, record is in mint condition, sealed in its original shrinkwrap, but under that shrink wrap is what looks to be a smudge of some sort (ink from printers, I'd think)  Who knows if it would come off, but you'd have to take the shrink wrap off to even try!  It has been kept in a plastic sleeve away from light and dust for the last 26 years (same with the tour poster and small flyer).  Seeing as record has never been unwrapped, it follows that it has never been played. This record and the 2 flyers are unconditionally guaranteed to be original, from 1983.  All come from my (Jeff Nelson - Minor Threat/Dischord Records) punk archives, which are being downsized after continuing to be described variously as "too big" and "insane" or containing "more than my potential kids or grandkids will ever want."  Please see my auction for lots of other punk/hardcore flyers and records as well as other jetsam I'll be putting up for sale......

EXCITING SCREEDS FOR YOU TO READ:  ANTI-WAR: I think the U.S. should get out of Iraq and Afghanistan.  Our troops have done the best they can - many have paid with their lives - but we have screwed up both countries immeasurably and our staying for year after year only delays the vacuum our inevitable withdrawal will create.  One cannot "win" a war of occupation, ESPECIALLY in lands where one does not understand the local languages, culture, or religions.  Afghanistan has worn down invading armies far larger than ours - Alexander the Great struggled mightily there, the British were wiped out in the 1840s and fared no better in the 1870s, and the Soviets had their "Vietnam" there in the 1980s.  It's terrible what our policies have done in the Middle East, but our staying is making things worse.  We should declare "victory" and leave...... HEALTHCARE REFORM:  I favor a single-payer healthcare system, or Medicare for all.  Ideally, we would have a system exactly like those in Canada, England, France, etc., one that does away with the need for “insurance” entirely.  Unfortunately, I think it’s unrealistic to expect such a change to take place in this country, but at the very LEAST there must be a strong public option – a government insurance program to counter the profit-driven insurance industry.  Without proper competition from a sizeable government program, nothing will have changed.
