Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. 1968 Original first pressing the REAL DEAL !

  • .................................
The opening track is a killer Jimi Hendrix Experience ripper (“Stone Free”) and the 7 originals that follow, without being fantastic innovative hardrock, do have the solid gritty bluesrock flavor in this late '60s collectible. What follows are tracks with spaced-out lengthy jams, moody atmospheres, non-stop fuzz and wah-wah guitar action and some catchy riffs within several great rockers.

Smack dab in the middle of the famous '67 '68 SAN FRANCISCO HIPPIE SCENE playing all the hot spots were Mount Rushmore ...who gigged frequently with fellow travelers Big Brother & the Holding Company, Canned Heat, and Quicksilver Messenger Service. Mount Rushmore pumped out competent electric boogie with a boozy blues edge, and while they coast on distortion and attitude rather than songcraft or instrumental prowess, that factor places them firmly in the garage band tradition, rather not among the trendsetters that shared their bills. The mighty Mount Rushmore were indeed full of confidence and bluster but possessing the basics of skills, turned up and cranked out, in gritty bluesrock fashion.

Opening a debut LP with Jimi Hendrix's "Stone Free" is a bold move and a hair-raising choice here, establishing the territory that the band will follow and measure up to this gold standard ... High on Mount Rushmore does in fact contains tracks of interest to the dedicated psych-rock historian; "I Don't Believe in Statues" closes out side one and functions as a manifesto of sorts, an indignant outsider cry set to charging riffs that sound like an Amboy Dukes record warped by the sun. The ten-minute epic "Looking Back" scores highest in rock action; plus, it features a crude but convincing space jam breakdown that boasts disoriented feedback, thunderstorm sound effects, and random hippie banter floating through the atmosphere. The LP concludes with a taste of Mount Rushmore's live act, as a small but enthusiastic audience joins the band in the studio to encourage their 'stoned out hippie boys' tendencies. The resultant medley includes "Dope Song," a jug band-style marijuana anthem, a boisterous singalong complete with kazoo and sure to irritate any hippie-hater....but it's just a little edge to throw on the heap of their otherwise gritty sound.
