Description

This very rare and beautiful LP from London (LL1486, Red & Silver Label, English pressing, mono) features Micha Elman’s lush and vibrant account of Bruch’s Violin Concertos No. 1 in G minor Op. 26 and No. 2 in D minor Op. 44, with Sir Adrian Boult conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Elman’s fabled tone and inimitable phrasing is well caught by the Decca engineers. Perhaps the most illustrious of Leopold Auer’s many pupils, this masterly performance documents a playing style that has largely vanished from the face of the earth. These were always among Elman’s finest pieces, and Boult provides passionate and buoyant accompaniment – one of the great violin records. The condition of the jacket is A- (slight edgewear, a small hole punch to the lower-right corner (visible in the scan), seamsplit to the left-side which has been discreetly taped, but not extending to the laminate, and slight discoloration to the rear panel, and very minor chipping to the laminate; however, the album retains its beautiful glossy appearance, the striking artwork perfectly intact – as is the laminate – and very solid.) The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT and it plays without defect, boasting clean, quiet (though not absolutely silent) surfaces. Includes the original rice paper inner sleeve. All-in-all, very much a collector’s copy. All records are play-graded and carefully cleaned. I accept payment via PayPal, BidPay, check or money order (in USD) – however, payments involving money orders over $75.00 must be sent via registered or Express Mail – I will compensate for this added expense. Do not send cash. U.S. buyers pay a flat $1.85 mailing fee for Media Mail, $4.00 for 1st Class or Priority Mail; for international buyers, shipping costs will be calculated by weight and destination country.
