Delta blues is a genre encompassing many greats, and some rarities. Its influence can be heard especially in bluegrass and country music. Mississippi John Hurt's syncopated guitar riffs and soothing voice make him a rare but essential part of any serious blues collector's music library. His recordings were called "race music" in their time, because prior to the 1940s no major record company differentiated between styles of African-American music. Mississippi John Hurt recorded this two-side and about six others and then disappeared into obscurity, only to be rediscovered in the 1960s by a folk musicologist, who urged him to take up recording and performing again. This time, he went on to achieve success, even appearing on the Tonight Show and having his recordings put into the Library of Congress for folk music. Even then, he remained very humble about his fame. "Never dreamed it," he said.

I found this in my parents' attic in 2007. I have enjoyed listening to it for many years, and am now ready to pass it on to someone who will truly appreciate it. I have decided to sell here at auction to get the best price I can.
