Description
This is a rare 78 rpm copy of "The Sheik Waltz" / "The Jazz Fiddler" by Walter Jacobs and Lonnie Carter (aka Mississippi Sheiks), recorded on February 17th, 1930 and released on Okeh 45436.
Any copy of this is rare, but this one is particularly notable because "Jazz Fiddler" is the VERY rare take "A" (the common take is take "B"). This has been issued on CD, but the copy they used for the CD skips and is in far worse shape than this one.
The record is good and worn, and "Jazz Fiddler" blasts a couple of times (perhaps the reason the take was rejected), but it plays well without skips. Please see photos.
This will surely be a jewel in anyone's Mississippi Sheiks 78 collection.
