Sleeve is in ver good nicks for a records this old - especially one beloved by hippies and has probably had more than its share of joints rolled on it. It still has a nice gloss with just a few superficial creases and the remains on a price tag on the top right corner (all photographed). Vinyl is in really nice condition - there are remarkably few surface marks and as far as I could tell, none of them was audible (and I listened closely).

I bought this in the early 90s in a second record shop near Blackpool when visiting a guy who had the largest record collection I have ever seen, who still lived with his parents and was on his way to becoming one of the country's leading experts on the history of passenger airships. While browsing, he brought this over and whispered to me to buy it (he already had a copy, that was in worse condition) because the shop owner didn't know that this was a rare edition. And it's all down to a finger.

Moby Grape were a hippy west coast country rock band, similar to The Byrds but rather less well known. But they did one thing that's kept their name - other than the music, which is actually very good indeed - and that was getting an album cover past the execs of CBS with a band member flipping the bird in full view in the middle of the sleeve. *shock horror*. Obviously - as soon as they knew this unsold copies were covered with a sticker or pulped and replaced with a new version with the offending finger airbrushed out (until the CD re-release of course). So copies with the finger are rare and sought after. I'll be honest and say that until Nigel told me to buy it, I'd never actually heard of Moby Grape, but I'm glad I bought this and I've listened to it many times over the years.

********** All records will be posted in Defendapack Twistwrap double thickness record mailers and with the disc *outside* the sleeve and protective bubblewrap, so there will be no new corner damage or holes in the edges caused by the LP sliding inside the sleeve in transit. All existing wear, tear and damage done to the sleeve when I was a teenager and didn't think the state of my records was any concern of anyone else other than myself, will be either described or will be clearly photographed. ********** As a personal note: this is my own vinyl collection. I'm downsizing, so saying a ceremonial goodbye to my LPs and singles that have been part of my life for the best part of 50 years. I'm not a dealer: these records were bought to listen to - in many cases to listen to A LOT. And they've been with me through goods times and bad times. I'm a very careful owner, so they're mostly in really condition for their age (wish I could say that for other things), but none of them are in mint condition. As part of saying goodbye, I'm first cleaning them using a DISCO-ANTISTAT RECORD CLEANER, and to be honest they have never sounded this good - in some cases they're better than the day I bought them. Then I'm giving them a last play through, using a new stylus, paying attention to any surface noise, audible scratches etc. I'm noticing that vinyl really took a plunge in quality around 1990 :-) both in weight and sound. Because of this last play through, I can honestly tell you what they sound like after a clean. This is a slow process - about ten records a week - so please save my ebay selling page and see if anything else you're interested in crops up: having been raised under the wing of John Peel, it's a very eclectic collection. **********
