Description

Moby - Play. Original 2XLP Vinyl cat. no. STUMM172. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nc class signed for.

This is a lovely record. This is the original UK pressing of Moby's Play, released in 1999 on Mute Records, catalogue number STUMM172. I have owned this since new and am looking to move it on to make some space in my collection.

As a record collector, I am very cautious and open on my listings. Tbf, the sleeve on this has seen better days, but is still Very Good if using the Discogs or Record Collector grading. There is some shelfwear to the outer sleeve edges, but no creases or folds. The sleeve is a thick one in order to hold both inners, and is therefore slight more prone to this. The spine suffers from some noticeable creasing, but is legible and bound well. There is also noticeable ringwear when viewed on the rear of the main sleeve, again, this is fairly normal for its age.

The inner sleeves though are in excellent order aside from some minor ringwear. The sleeves therefore I am grading at Very Good, the main sleeve at the lower end and the inners at the top. There is no discolouration, sticker residue etc on any of the sleeves. I think the photos show you the item in a very fair way, but can provide more on request.

The records themselves, and this is the important bit, are Very Good Plus. I would go as far as they're as close to Near Mint as you could state while not quite reaching that mark. There are tiny hairlines that I suspect are from it brushing the inners which are the type that can create a bit of static, but nothing horrific. I know for certain that I have played this LP start to finish no more than half a dozen times since I bought it back in 2000, and haven't played it in at least the last 15 years (I chose to listen to one of the CD copies we had instead). I haven't given it a play test because it doesn't need it, but visual inspection shows no major defects, and it has been stored in good dry conditions at room temperature for its whole life. Any serious bidders who want me to play test it I am happy to do so, just contact me and I will be happy to do it.

Starting at a sensible price to encourage bidding rather than some of the set sale prices you see for this. Will be sent in a proper stiffened mailer to the successful bidder.

Best of luck!
