Description

This is part of a big auction of 45's from several independent 1950's LA-area labels that I'm running this week. I apologize if you were looking for the Rockabilly auction. Due to some upcoming travel and time restraints, I've had to change the order of the auctions. Take a look at these and keep an eye out for a Duke Records and a Chess/Checker/Excello auction later in October.

Release: Marvin and Johnny - Will You Love Me / Sweet Dreams

Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1955


Notes: Early single from this duo of Marvin Phillips and rotating Johnnies (possible Emory Perry on this one). Sweet Dreams is a great ballad with both R&B and doo-wop elements.  Some very delicate sax work as well. 

Vinyl Condition: VG+, vinyl is in really nice shape with just a couple of very superficial marks. Both sides play very well with almost no background noise at all. No pops/ticks/skips, etc. Labels are very nice with original gloss and no writing/tears, there is some ring scuffing and a couple of tiny ticks in the labels. Probably weaker side of VG+, but I think this one jumps that bar.  See pics, but this is a nice copy overall.


Sleeve Condition: VG, sleeve has some wear including some bends and light wrinkles. There are no tears or splits. Not perfect, but great color and presents well.
