This recording isn't on anyone's list of greats, though certainly it should be.
Not to short change Boult's reading here in any way with the New Philharmonia, but just talking "sound" … it's simply breathtaking.
I wonder, truly, if I have ever heard massed strings captured in so lively and natural a manner. Uncanny how the hair on your neck goes up during this piece, and you can almost laugh out loud, a good many times, at just how "real" everything is.
A beautiful recording, plain and simple, and in very fine shape. The original Lyrita: Jacket is without fault; record is near mint.
An extraordinary bit of music, with splendid sound.

Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $5, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
