Description
We make every effort to mail all orders out Friday of each week. Keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two at most. We also strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. Rates to Japan and Australia have been lowered. TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We often get requests to hold orders to save on shipping. We are happy to do that. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and IF YOU REQUEST we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel. To receive continual shipping discounts, we will hold your orders as long as you want, but it is necessary to pay each invoice you receive to stay current. Most importantly, we appreciate your business.
1966 MONO original VINYL ~ GARAGE classic!
THE COUNT FIVE
Psychotic Reaction
...USA - DSM 1001
Original 1966 MONO first pressiing on the DOUBLE SHOT label of the sixties!
One of the surprise major hits of 1966 was "Psychotic reaction" which also sent the impressionable young hipsters of the sixties to their local used-record stores in search of Double Shot DBL-1001. Soon forgotten, the world would not much recall Count Five's Psychotic Reaction; the average casual garage rock fan would be no more likely to search for this album than an album by Nuggets staples like the Remains.
There's the title track, of course, a total Yardbirds-like stormer that turns out to be as great as any of that band's patented rave-ups, thanks in huge part to Kenn Ellner's brilliantly bratty strangulated whine of a voice. Then there's the mysterious "Pretty Big Mouth," a swamp-rock groove with the most bizarre lyrics on the entire album. And they certainly get major cool points for being hip to the Who in 1966, recording "My Generation" and "Out in the Street" before almost anybody in the U.S. knew who Pete Townshend was. Ellner's vocals and, John "Mouse" Michalski's gnarly fuzz guitar & scratchy rhythms lead the way in this interesting garage rock album, one of San Jose California's top fave bands of '66. Songs like 'Double Decker Bus" and "They're Gonna Get You" are garage rock legends that sound as good as any tunes on any of the Pebbles 60's garge/punk compilations.
