CONCERT CHOIR The Montrose Consolidated High School Concert Choir is a highly select group of eighty-two singers. Since its origin in 1957, the choir has gained a state wide reputation for excellence in the performance of the finest in choral literature. Among the works which the choir has presented in recent years are the Vivaldi, “Gloria”; Pinkham, “Sinfonia Sacra”; Britten, “Ceremony of Carols”; J.S. Bach “Cantata 142”; R. Thompson, “The Peaceable Kingdom”; Faure, “Requiem”; C.T. Pachelbel I, “Magnificat” and Hindemith, “Chansons”. Recently the choir was honored in receiving an invitation from the Pennsylvania Music Educa- tors Association to perform at their annual convention in Harrisburg. The choir personnel of eighty-two is chosen from the 180 senior high students who are actively engaged in the Vocal Music Program of the school. The personnel includes students from the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades. The choir rehearses three, fourty=three minute periods each week. Cyril M. Stretansky, Conductor of the Montrose Consolidated High School Concert Choir, is a native of Nanticoke, Pa. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Mansfield State College in 1957. A Master of Music Education degree was earned by him at Temple University in 1965. While at Temple, Mr. Stretansky studied choral litera- ture, conducting and choral techniques under Robert Page. Mr. Stretansky is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and is currently serving as president of the Northeastern Dis- trict of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. He has been employed by the Montrose Schools as Director of Vocal Music since 1957. Hodie Christus Natus Est........................
