Description:
Original 1975 first U.S. pressing of Monty Python’s Matching Tie and Handkerchief on Arista Records, featuring one of the most legendary novelty formats in vinyl history: a 3-sided LP with a die-cut cover, dual-groove trick, and both labels marked “Side 2.” This is the authentic first press gimmick edition, verified by matrix etchings and pressing plant indicators.
The record plays two entirely different sets of sketches depending on where the stylus lands — thanks to a hidden dual groove cut into one side of the vinyl. Meanwhile, the die-cut front cover reveals the printed inner sleeve through a box “window,” completing the visual gag. All of this was part of the original surrealist packaging and was removed in later reissues.
