This is my all time favourite Moody Blues Lp. I remember buying it when it came out in 1971 and it stayed on my turntable for days. I was enthralled by every track, the different sounds, the harmonies, and the lyrics. Most of all I couldn't put the sleeve down. I thought the picture on the front was the best I'd ever seen, and the inside image fascinated me. still does actually but I havemanaged to take the LP off the turntable.
When i picked this Lp up one look at the sleeve told me I mught just be looking at an extreemly good copy at worst, and a mint one at best.
The textured sleeve was I remember easily damaged, and suffered bigtime from shelf wear. Any non laminated sleeve has the potentila to get ruined quickly whereas a laminated one gets all those crease marks. you can't win sometimes.
Anyway back to this sleeve. The textured surface on the front is immaculate . the little boy wide eyed looking at the gleaming gift that is being offered to him. Full colour and no fading. sharp corners and perfect opening edge. the back of the cover where the bad children are pleading for the man to offer them agift has just a slight touch of a scuff to the colour where the record has pressed but nothing horrible. The spine is flat and perfect.The inside of the gatefold shows a procession which is the title of the opening track
The record has the original issue label.Do not get confused with the blue threshold label with the same catalogue number on it. This is a later repressing from the mid 70's. The first pressings were all on the white label, like this one.
Superb condition. No spindle hole wear, and only a few spider lines to prove the Lp has not had much playtime.
The record gleams like new, looks like new, and plays like it as well.
Near silent run in groove, The keyboard solo sounding like something coming in to land gets lower and deeper, near silence and one word is spoken "Desolation" the Thunder cracks and the rain pours down "Creation" and the rain fades into a gentle jungle sound "Communication" drum beats in the distance getting nearer and louder , The chanting dies down and the mellotron starts up followed by the pipes and then breaks into the gentle woodwind sound and then quite unexpectedly a harp and th sound ensures you actaully believe this is being performed in middle aged England in front of a packed courtyard for royalty.
An absolutely superb introduction for any LP. This is the opening track procession / the story in your eyes.
If you have never heard this before you must buy it, if not this then get a copy from somewhere.
The near silent linking grooves add to the overall quality of this LP.

the stereo sound and production on this disc is absolutely the best. Clear sharp and crisp.
