Morning of the Earth is a 1971 classic surf film by Alby Falzon and David Elfick. Its success was much greater than Falzon or anyone expected and it boosted the profile of the surfers in the film.
The film's music soundtrack was produced by G. Wayne Thomas and included music and songs by noted Australian music acts Tamam Shud, John J. Francis, Brian Cadd and G. Wayne Thomas himself. The popularity of the film was such that the album became the first Australian film soundtrack to earn a gold record award. "Open Up Your Heart" was selected as the single to be played by Sydney's pre-eminent radio station at the time 2SM and it went on to be #1 for 18 weeks, finally being removed from the top spot by John Lennon's "Imagine".
The film portrays surfers living in spiritual harmony with nature, making their own boards (and homes) as they travelled in search of the perfect wave across Australia’s north-east coast, Bali and HawaiSome of the Surfers featured
