Morrissey's Three Track 'Boxers' EP from 1995, 22 Years Ago.
Cover Star:
Billy Conn, American boxer of Irish origin. World champion light weight. He went twice for the heavyweight world champion title, but lost both times.
Comes With Original Poly-Lined Inner, But I Have Placed the Record in a High Quality Paper Sleeve as 'these sleeves sometimes leave a wavy pattern on the disc which, if you catch it quickly enough, can be wiped off with no negative impact but if left, becomes impossible to shift'.

Released as a stand-alone single, all three songs ended up on the World of Morrissey compilation a few months later, rendering it something of a curiosity quickly enough. The revamped band that performed on Vauxhall reappears here, with the Bridgewood/Taylor rhythm section in place of Day and Cobrin; Lillywhite once again produces. Despite his then-stated interest in boxing as a sport, the lead track was taken in many places as Morrissey's rueful comment on his lack of fame in the middle of Brit-pop, thus the opening line "Losing in front of your home crowd." Regardless of intent, it's a fine enough number, with a good overall performance and production to recommend it. "Have-a-Go Merchant" works at about the same level, pleasant if not completely wonderful with some snotty lyrics to boot ("The young baby girl cradled in your arms/Your one good contribution"). "Whatever Happens, I Love You" is the real winner on the disc, a slightly histrionic lead guitar line adding to the nothing-else-but-us lyric and delivery of same, especially towards the frazzled end.

Vinyl looks pretty immaculate apart from a couple of hairlines & is graded as VG+ playing through perfectly with no sticking or skipping & a whisper of surface noise in the run-in groove & outro on SideA & on the run-in & out grooves of SideB, but not an issue on tracks. Sleeve is also graded as VG+ with minor creases at edges, minor shelf/handling wear to edges & crease to rear-top-left (as always, see photos). N.B. All vinyl is visually inspected and play-graded with a new diamond stylus fitted January 2017.
Carefully stored & handled in a pet & smoke free household.

Guide to Grading: Very Good Plus (VG+)
A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.
Very Good (VG)
Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.
